Man Risks His Life To Save Two Kittens From Brush Fire

Photographer Carlos Pacheco was taking pictures in North Dakota, when he faced some brush fire and heard some meowing coming out of it. Carlos then spotted two kittens trapped in there, struggling to breathe and getting hurt by the flames, so he stepped in to save the cuties’ lives.

“I had to shield myself with my jacket to even attempt to grab her,” Carlos shared. After almost getting hurt himself trying to rescue the kittens, he rushed them to Cats Cradle Shelter, where they were both diagnosed with burnt paws and smoke inhalation, endangering the kitten’s lives. They had to be separated and put in oxygen cabins to recover, but after a couple of days, they showed improvement and were reunited!

They named the kittens Py and Manni and they’re currently on foster care but looks like Carlos, their hero, might adopt the two so they remain together. Fingers crossed!

Woman Travels 23 Miles On Foot, Car And Subway To Save A Sick Swan

Ariel Córdova-Rojas is a woman that when she sees an animal in danger, she can’t just walk away and forget the situation. On the contrary, she must get involved immediately to do what she can to save it. This is what she did when she saw a sick swan, which cost her a frantic journey of more than 23 miles on foot.

As reported by The New York Times, Ariel was planning to spend her 30th birthday evening at the Jamaica Bay wildlife refuge in Queens, New York. But then she ran into this bird that stood out from the rest of the animals.

It was a female mute swan who appeared to be sick. She was sitting on the grass, alone, by the water’s edge. There she changed all her plans for the day and set to work.

“If there is an animal in need, I will do everything I can,” she said. There, she thought about how to get to Manhattan’s Upper West Side, where the appropriate animal rehabilitation center for such cases was located.

Ariel, who spent five years as an animal care manager at the Wild Bird Fund rehabilitation center, knows how to spot a bird when it’s in bad condition. She spent several years rescuing geese in Central Park, red-tailed hawks in Brooklyn and other animals.

She confirmed her suspicions when she approached the bird, characterized by being very territorial and aggressive in such cases, and the bird did not act, but only tried to swim away with difficulty. She approached it, wrapped it in her jacket and took it with her.

“Well, I’m carrying a swan. I have no idea what to do. I guess I’ll just walk,” she said in her mind, as she walked back to her bike. And it wasn’t a normal thing to see someone walking around with a swan.

The hike back to her bike was very difficult since she was carrying the 17 pound bird.

After that she called different animal shelters, but no one would help. Only a married couple took her and the swan to the Howard Beach subway station. So, she sat with the swan still wrapped in her coat on one of the seats.

“Meanwhile, there are some people on the train and no one seems to be puzzled. (There was a man) sitting in front of me and he was just talking on the phone. I don’t even know if he noticed that there was a swan in front of him,” she said.

She managed to meet with Tristan Higginbotham, an animal care manager for the Wild Bird Fund, at a station. They then drove to the Wild Bird Fund from there. Once at the rehabilitation center, they determined that the animal was underweight and showed symptoms of lead poisoning, which often occurs when they ingest different things they find.

The bird underwent treatment and will be reassessed in a few weeks.

Ariel was very happy to have helped the swan.

“That was the perfect culmination of my 20s. It was the perfect birthday gift to be out in nature and be able to save a life,” she said.

This Bear Decided To Relax On A Couch Someone Threw Away

Recently, Mandy Stantic and her family went to see some bears in northern Manitoba, Canada and found something they did not expect to see: a bear, who found a couch someone threw away, made himself comfortable and relaxed in it, just like a human would.

“It’s all forest surrounding the dump for hundreds of miles,” Mandy shared. “There’s more than enough to eat for them, but the berries aren’t out yet in the spring and garbage is easy pickings so that’s why they all congregate there.” Which explains why the bear would find an old couch; he was probably already full from eating and just wanted to have a sit and relax for a little bit!

Reporter Stands In Front Of The Camera, The Horse Has The Staff In Laughter

Recently, a reporter had the job to deliver news right in front of a horse. The reporter tried to keep his professionalism and do his work, but the stallion named Frankie had other plans as it seemed he was ready for his close up, so he started bugging the reporter while he tried to speak to the camera, smelling him, nibbling his ear and doing all sorts of things to get his attention.

The reporter had the coolest reaction, as he just laughed it off and even expressed he wanted to capture the moment on camera. He would try to keep a safe distance from the horse, but was not bothered by the affectionate gestures from the animal and the footage is super funny.

Starving Dog Gets Rescued And Taken To Pet-Friendly Lunch Dates Every Day

Popeye the dog is one of the cutest lunch dates one could possibly get but make no mistake, this pooch wasn’t always so lucky: before Ivy, his human, rescued him, he was a starving stray dog in desperate need of a loving home.

The cutie was skinny and in pretty bad shape and since Ivy already had several dogs, she wasn’t sure if she could keep Popeye, but she fell madly in love with him and no wonder why – he’s too adorable! “It wasn’t long before he made himself at home at my place with my other dogs,” she shared.

Not only did Popeye find a loving home but he also found Internet fame thanks to an Instagram account Ivy set up for him, in which we can see the tiny canine enjoying the finest lunch dates with her human. “He doesn’t lunge for food or really even care for it. He just liked to be out. He’ll get nibbles of anything that’s safe for him. I also carry a bag of treats for him, in case there’s nothing he can have.”

Shop Owner Installs Glass Ceiling For His Cats And Now They Won’t Stop Staring At Him

Cats are wonderful. Despite being perfect, some people are not fans of their company. Thinking about that, the owner of this store in Taiwan decided to get a little creative.

He modified the store’s ceiling and installed glass panels, where the cats lie down all day to watch and observe the customers. I don’t know about you, but their look is a little disturbing… It’s like they’re planning something.

Anyway, it’s a very cute and funny scene.

Anyway, it’s a very cute and funny scene.

The truth is that for the cats it is a real attic, a surveillance altar where they look at absolutely EVERYTHING and everyone. Not a single customer escapes them. But besides looking at them in anonymity, they also meow and scold them.

It turns out that on the normal ceiling, which is generally in all commercial premises, this man removed some panels and replaced them with glass.

There they relax, escape from the heat and look at everything

The publication made thousands of Internet users fall in love with it, generating hundreds of thousands of interactions. Everyone was amazed by these beautiful cats.

Probably many people have also implemented a special system for their cats, considering that they are true fans of spying.

Man Saves Fox From Fur Farm And It Becomes His Most Loyal Friend

Different parts of the world have different laws for the protection and care of animals. It all has to do with the local population of that animal, as well as the interest of the local government in giving these same animals certain rights. What we must take into account is that in some parts of the world, some species are declining in numbers, or even endangered.

This is the story of Woody the fox.

It’s hard to think of it, seeing how friendly and playful he looks, but for some people in Russia, this beautiful creature was just the preliminary step to making a luxurious fur coat.

Before becoming Woody, the little fox was part of the animals that a fur farm raised to later make use of their beautiful natural coats

What they didn’t anticipate in this cruel process was the kindness of a guy named Yaroslav. As he passed outside the farm, he noticed the little fox, walking with his head down through the grass. Without thinking twice, he rang the bell and asked if there was anything he could do for him

Demonstrating how little they cared about the little fox’s life, his owners told him that he was free to take him away… as long as he paid them what they hoped to obtain from the sale of his fur.

Yaroslav had to pay a large sum of money, but the benefits of this investment were seen only a couple of weeks later. It took Woody only a couple of days to get used to his new life situation, helped mostly by the affection of his new owner.
