This adorable dog, named Vincente, was dressed and groomed in a tuxedo and he was ready to go to his new home, but his new owners never showed up.

Sharing the heartbreaking photograph on Instagram, Colombian animal charity Fundación Rescátame say the supposed adopters cancelled at the last minute.

They informed that Vincente was left all dressed up and excited and he was ready for adoption.

Unfortunately his supposed adopter never came to pick him up. Just as he was ready for a home, all bathed, they cancelled the adoption.”

The post racked up thousands of likes and comments with hundreds offering to give Vincente a home.

Thankfully since this incident, Vincente has been adopted by another family and  Fundación Rescátame has posted a video of the heartwarming moment he was delivered to his forever home.

“We didn’t want you to miss it, that’s why yesterday we made the official delivery of Vincente to his new family who received him with lots of love.”

The rescue centre has now posted an update on how the little guy is getting on in his new home.

Sharing photos of the now pampered pooch in his forever home, the animal charity say he is very happy and his new owners are teaching him “patience and love.”

The rescue centre say that reasons like these are why their adoption process is so strict, and wanted to remind people of the commitment need to bring a pet into your lives.

“Then they ask us why we’re so strict with the process, for this reason! Because we don’t want to have the slightest doubt that our furry ones are going to be in excellent hands for LIFE.

“If you want to adopt, keep in mind that it’s a commitment forever, animals are not things you can dispose of when you want to have a dog.”

We are so happy that Vincente found his permanent shelter in the end.
