Dog Rescued From Dumpster Is Making An Incredible Recovery Just 2 Weeks Later

The Facebook page Millie the Dumpster Dog chronicles the tragic story of a Yellow Lab abandoned to die in a scorching hot dumpster in San Antonio, Texas. The dog was filthy, swarmed by flies and nearly dead from heat stroke when she was discovered, writes post.bark.co

Now, a mere two weeks later, the sweet pooch – named Millie by her rescuers – is flourishing in her new foster home.

Her foster mom, identified only as Holly, is following up with Millie’s veterinary visits to ensure a full recovery. Unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with heartworm disease and is currently undergoing careful, guarded treatment. Veterinarians have prescribed a steroid to help with the cough associated with the heavy heartworm burden.

Millie’s rescue was facilitated by the combined efforts of San Antonio Animal Care Services and Lucky Lab Rescue. Millie was wearing a collar when she was found buried beneath discarded boxes and bags of trash, but she is not microchipped and no one has stepped forward to claim her.

Holly has seen miraculous changes in Millie’s demeanor as well as her physical condition in the short time they have spent together. Once Millie recovered from the life threatening heat stroke, Holly was able to take her home and give her a thorough bath and brushing session.

Sadly, heartworm disease is painful and expensive to treat. A YouCaring page has been established to raise donations for Millie as she undergoes her treatment and the long recovery associated with it. Any additional funds raised will go towards the “Millie Campaign” established in her name to aid other abandoned, abused and neglected dogs in need.

Follow Millie on Facebook as she slowly learns what it’s like to be loved and cared for – the way all dogs should be. Thank you to Holly and to everyone who played a role in rescuing this sweet girl!

‘Feral’ rescue dog saves dying hummingbird’s life — now, they’re completely inseparable

The incredible story of Ed Gernon and the dog he adopted is just a proof that every dog out there can make a great pet if given the amount of love and devotion they deserve, writes moneysavingbasics.

When this man paid the local shelter a visit, this particular dog caught his eye and despite the staff’s warnings that Rex was a street stray dog that used to get into fights with other canines, Ed decided to give him a chance and adopted him.

Rex turned out to be the best pet one can ask for.

The bond between these new friends became very strong. They would spend most of their days together, taking long walks, playing fetch, and running around their hometown of Whittier, California.

During one of their walks something unusual happened. Rex stood in front of a bush and refused to move an inch. Wondering what could be going on, Ed got closer and saw it was a hummingbird laying there on the ground.

It looked as though it was dead, and just as they wanted to proceed, Ed noticed the tiny bird’s heavily breathing. He couldn’t just leave it there, so he took her home with him.

Ed named the bird Hammer and was amazed how his dog who was considered a feral could love and care for this tiny creature so much.
“It was this little creature. This fragile creature that the whole world wanted to kill and [Rex] was trying to protect her so I thought I’d go the distance,” Gernon said.

In order to nurse her back to health, Ed would feed his new pal Hammer sweet water every fifteen minutes, day and night. This, along with all the attention she was getting, Hammer started flying again.

“It’s crazy. You live with Tinkerbell. It’s like that’s what this is like,” he said.

No matter how much both Ed and Rex grew fond of Hammer, he is aware that the bids will eventually leave their home. She would probably want to be around those of her kind and form a family of her own. Ed leaves the house windows open in case Hammer wants to explore the outside world, but so far she opts for staying with her human daddy and her four-legged pal.

“I rescue this dog. He rescues the bird. The bird rescues all of us in a weird sense and it’s just a miracle,” Gernon said.

This trio might be unusual, but they became inseparable and love each other to the moon and back.

Firefighter Refuses To Give Up On Little Dog Rescued From Burning Home

Andrew Klein is a first responder with the Santa Monica Fire Department in California. Marley, the dog, owes this man his life as Andrew refused to give up on him after pulling him from a burning home.

Firefighters raced to the scene around 4 p.m. and saw smoke billowing from the home in the Orange County neighborhood of Avalon Park, Orange County Fire Rescue said. By the time firefighters arrived, smoke was billowing from the empty home, according to a social network update from OCFire Rescue.
But while the home’s owner was safely away, firefighters knew animals might still be trapped in the burnt building. Those suspicions were confirmed when rescuers found a dog inside.

This was happening when first responders would help pets that were injured, car accidents, etc. Many are pet lovers themselves so after attending to their people patients, they would often provide aid to the injured pets on the scene.
“As I was standing outside, I saw the firefighter, Mr. Klein, running toward the curbside grass area carrying something,” Fernando told. “I didn’t know what it was at first, but then I realized that it was a pet who had been trapped in the fire. The dog was unconscious, limp, and not moving at all.”

Andrew Klein did not leave the dog’s side. Just a minute after, he began performing CPR on the pet without any hesitation. Fernando said, adding: “It was an awe-inspiring moment.”
To everyone’s relief, after roughly 20 minutes, Andrew’s efforts paid off as the pet began to slowly move.

“It’s as if the big weight lifted off my chest. I was overwhelmed with joy and tears,” Fernando said. “I witnessed the dog come back to life.”
“The owner was in tears. Everyone was very happy with the ending. We are very proud of the efforts done by Andrew Klein from Santa Monica Fire Department,” Fernando said. “Firefighters have always been a role model for me, and I admire them deeply for what they do for the community. Being able to see this moment was really a privilege!”

There are a couple of a few species that live in freshwater rivers and streams. Dolphins are intensely friendly, warm-blooded creatures that communicate with squeaks, whistles, and snaps, and they are smooth, graceful swimmers.

They can arrive at speeds of over 18 miles per hour, and they are additionally fun-loving and frequently play in a boat’s wake, jumping out of the water, which may be for the sake of entertainment. The wide life appears to claim its privileges with the entire world on hold because of the pandemic, as so many animals were seen in places they hadn’t been spotted for a really long time.

This particular time, it is the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins returning to where they ought to be. With the traffic having lessened drastically during the pandemic, more of these dazzling animals have been increasingly spotted in the waters around Hong Kong.

As calculated by the World Wide Fund for Nature, around 2,500 of these one-of-a-kind dolphins live in the Pearl River Estuary, and both the white and pink dolphin species are the rarest on the planet, as the Indo-Pacific dolphins, or the Chinese white dolphins, and pink dolphins are an incredible sight to see because of their color.

Dr. Lindsay Porter, a senior examination researcher with the University of St. Andrews, told The Guardian that since 1993, she’s been studying these dolphins and she has seen nothing like this sensational change before. She added that dolphins are investing more time in socialization or splashing around on the surface level, and it was truly incredible to see them playing and living it up.

This pink river dolphin is really cute

You Can Replace an Hour of Exercising Using a Glass of Red Wine

Are you lazy to go to the gym? Do you love red wine? Drink red wine and it can be a substitute for a fitness routine! Numerous studies have shown a moderate intake of red wines can lower the chance of developing certain diseases including heart diseases.

The French Paradox

Red wine is the product of the fermentation of entire, dark-colored grapes. It is a rich source of antioxidants that improve the overall health of our bodies. In addition, it is considered to be the reason behind the “French paradox”. The French population has lower rates of heart disease despite the excess consumption of saturated fat and cholesterol because of the intake of red wines.

Red Wine Contains Powerful Antioxidants and Plant Compounds, Including Resveratrol

Grapes are rich in antioxidants like catechin Resveratrol as well as proanthocyanidins and epicatechin. The main reason is Resveratrol and proanthocyanidins which provide some health benefits.

Resveratrol is found in the grape’s skin and is created in certain plants in response to injuries or damages. It combats blood clotting as well as inflammation, reducing the risk of developing heart disease and can even fight cancer.

Resveratrol and Exercise

A study recently conducted by researchers at the University of Alberta in Canada has demonstrated that Resveratrol which is a chemical found in red wine, can be beneficial to human health as compared to the benefits derived through sports.

Jason Dyck, head of research at the University of California, has said that red wines could be an option for anyone who isn’t capable of exercising regularly.

Resveratrol can offer similar benefits to what can be derived from physical exercises.

They also can enhance heart health. According to Dyck, the substances would be more suitable if they were used by those who don’t have the time and capability to exercise.

You can also get Resveratrol from blueberries, peanut butter, or dark chocolate.

Red Wine Lowers the Risk of Stroke, Heart Disease, and Early Death

This drink has more health benefits than other alcoholic drinks. In fact, moderate consumption of red wine will reduce the risk of developing heart disease by boosting the amount of HDL cholesterol in the blood. plus, it will help to lower the damage to oxidative chemistry caused by LDL cholesterol to up to 50 percent.

Consuming 3 to 4 glasses of wine each day, for 3-4 days during the week, can reduce the risk of suffering from strokes in men of middle age. Moderate wine drinkers have lower risks of dying and suffering from heart disease than non-drinkers and spirit alcohol drinkers.

But, keep in mind that moderate consumption of red wine can reduce the risk of developing heart disease however, an excessive amount will increase the chance of developing it.

Other Health Benefits of Red Wine

The majority of the advantages of red wine can be attributable to its powerful antioxidant properties. It also has various other aspects, including:

  • Reduced risk of developing cancer. Moderate consumption of cancer may reduce the risk of certain types of cancer like basal cell colon, prostate, and ovarian cancers.
  • Lower risk of developing dementia. As we previously stated, it could reduce the risk of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and degenerative dementia.
  • Lower chance of suffering from depression. Those people who typically drink between 2 and 7 glasses of wine each week are less likely to suffer from depression.
  • Lower resistance to insulin. Just two glasses of red wine a day will reduce the resistance to insulin.
  • lower risk for developing type 2 diabetes in females.

How Much Red Wine You Should Drink?

There’s no reason to fret if you consume moderate quantities of red wine. For the majority of people in America and Europe moderate doses are classified as:

  • Women: 1 – 1.5 glasses per day;
  • Men: 1-2 glasses per day.

According to various reports, it is recommended to be able to count at least 1-2 days of alcohol-free time every week.

Be aware that this is an all-inclusive consumption of alcohol. It is not recommended to mix red wine with other alcohol-based drinks, as, in that manner, you may easily overdo the moderate consumption.

A Baby Chimp’s Journey To Recovery Takes An Amazing Turn After His Mother Abandoned Him

Life for the baby chimpanzee was not easy because his mother abandoned him shortly after he was born. The helpless creature, on the other hand, never gave up even when he was forced to exist on his own.

In human terms, it could seem normal that a mother would leave behind her child. The obvious fact is that this is a chimp and in case you haven’t known chimpanzees are like humans.

Also, they nurse their babies instead of leaving them to fend for themselves. This chimpanzee baby had to cope without his mother’s milk and affection.

He slowly learned to live on with life on his own and try to survive against all obstacles. However, not long after, a light soon shined at the end of the black tunnel.

And he soon found comfort in an artificial toy (plush monkey). Despite no one being born on an island including chimpanzees, somehow life happens and then people or animals sometimes become lonely and alone.

Everyone needs each other, and when an opportunity arises to be a source of comfort and companionship to others, no one should be turned away. You will understand more when you stick to this reading this story to the end, it’s worth your time and attention.

Abandoned

Djibril, a cute baby chimp, was born at a zoo in Malaga, southern Spain, where his parents kept him. Even though he was born into a loving family, he was tragically abandoned by his mother, who refused to care for him.

Sadly, but how can anyone judge her because she was saved from a circus and had gone through a lot of hardships. For the majority of her existence, Kika has been held in captivity, therefore she has no maternal instincts and was unable to raise her child.

Woman Finds An Incredible Bug That Looks Like A Lavender And White Orchid

Animals and insects that resemble beautiful flowers deceive in a unique and powerful way. So, take care when bending down to sniff flowers because some could actually be an animal or insect.

Margaret Neville, a farm owner in South Africa, was strolling through her garden when she noticed something flower-like moved on a lavender bush. She approached and discovered it was a fascinating insect that was like nothing she had ever seen before.

The delicate-looking creature is called a spiny flower mantis, or Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii. It is a species of praying mantis that is found in sub-Saharan Africa. This species perfectly suited to camouflaging themselves in floral settings.

The incredible bug almost looked like a work of art. Her wings of white and green were accentuated with a swirl that looks like an eye, while the rest of her body was adorned with tiny, purple flower-like structures.

She quickly shared the photo with her friend, Kerri Martinaglia. And of course, Martinaglia was equally impressed.

“When I saw her, I thought she was an exquisite work of art,” Martinaglia told The Dodo.

Martinaglia shared photos on social media, and the special mantis has earned plenty of admirers from people around the world. They were stunned to learn such an animal is real.
