Tasmanian devils once roamed over mainland Australia. However, they have completely disappeared in the wild for over 3,000 years. This was due to the increase in the number of their enemies, dingoes, a type of native wild dog. Tasmanian devils were then confined to the island of Tasmania and only lived there ever since then. 8 Signs You Have A Gluten Intolerance

Gluten is a protein usually found in wheat, barley, and rye. Nowadays intolerance to gluten is quite a common issue. Actually, many health professionals in the medical world fight whether it is healthy or not.

Wheat products, such as bread, pasta, crackers, and cereals, commonly include gluten. Furthermore, here is a list of grains that secretly contain gluten, and grains that are safe to eat because they don’t contain any.

These are the most common grains containing gluten:

  • Wheat
  • Graham flour
  • Rye
  • Contaminated oats
  • Bulgur
  • Barley
  • Couscous
  • Kamut
  • Wheat Germ
  • Spelt
  • Semolina

Most common gluten-free grains:

  • Quinoa
  • Wild rice
  • Buckwheat
  • Millet
  • Uncontaminated, pure oats
  • Amaranth

Secret gluten ingredients:

  • Grain extract
  • Modified Food Starch
  • Dextrin
  • Caramel Color
  • Maltodextrin
  • Natural flavoring

It’s important to learn that all processed and packaged foods can contain gluten, even if the ingredients don’t include wheat, rye or barley. Recently, gluten intolerance has been linked to Celiac disease, a classified autoimmune disorder that can cause damage to the small intestine.

Here are the 8 most common symptoms of gluten intolerance:

  • Tiredness and fatigue

Researchers have found that gluten allergies often lead to exhaustion and fatigue. In fact, the immune system creates a reaction that causes inflammation on the nerves, which drains the body’s energy.

  • Unexpected weight gain

Weight gain is extremely typical in celiac disease. That’s because gluten damages the intestinal lining, therefore it absorbs fewer nutrients than expected.

  • Weak immune system

There are IgA antibodies, and they might have a counter-attack on your immune system due to the allergy itself. These antibodies are mostly found in the saliva and gastrointestinal tract and make a person prone to the flu and colds.

  • Brain fogginess and loss of focus

One of the most surprising symptoms of gluten intolerance. According to an article published in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry, it was found that people suffer gluten allergies as a result of antibodies called immunoglobulin. It is believed that this reaction contributes to diminished cognitive performance.

  • Muscle and joint pain

The gluten intolerance can sometimes cause inflammatory effects, such as widespread pain, discomfort, and aches in the joints and muscles.

  • Headaches & Migraines

We all know that migraines can be especially painful headaches sometimes. To point out, studies have shown that 56 percent of gluten intolerant people had chronic headaches or migraines.

  • Dental problems

A recent study has found a relation between gluten sensitivity and “aphthous stomatitis” a condition known to cause mouth ulcers and canker sores.

  • Skin conditions

Gluten Intolerance often causes eczema, psoriasis, and acne as well as redness, rashes, itching, and blistering.

Orphaned Baby Kangaroo Hugs His Teddy Bear And Treats It As A Companion

You may not believe, but some studies have shown that friendships can have a major impact on our health and well-being. Therefore, everyone needs friends, and this is no exception to animals. Even if the friendship comes from a stuffed animal, it can help someone feel comfortable and overcome all of trials. And of course, it deserves to be cherished and admired.

Meet Doodlebug, an orphaned baby kangaroo who lives the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. He is taken care of by the wildlife rehabilitator Gillian Abbott. She and her son Tim Beshara, an adviser to Greens senator for Tasmania Peter Whish-Wilson, have taken care of Doodlebug since he was a baby found orphaned in the wild.

Source: Twitter

Doodlebug is actually an Eastern grey kangaroo and not a wallaby. But no matter which species he belongs to, he went viral captured everyone’s heart after his photos hugging a teddy-bear were tweeted by Tim. Through these photos, we can see the value of a good hug, especially for an orphaned wallaby.

“He may have fallen out of his mother’s pouch or his mother may have died,” Beshara told the Daily Mail. “He was a couple of months old when he was passed onto my mother’s wildlife company WIRES. She has since nursed it back to health and it is now hopping around the forest and coming back for the occasional feeding or cuddle, as the image shows.”

Source: Twitter

Although Doodlebug is big and healthy enough to come back to the wild, he is still not ready to face the wild world without a little help from Abbott and her organization. Abbott thought that Doodlebug, just like babies, needed a friend to comfort and help him grow. For this reason, she gave him a fuzzy bear to snuggle up with.

“They seem to respond to the toys much in the same way as a toddler. They treat it as a companion,” says Abbott.

Doodlebug lost his mom and his home, so no wonder he wants to hug his favorite bear. With the help of his bear, he will recover quickly and return to the wild where he belongs.

‘Extinct’ Leopards Last Seen In 1983 Spotted Alive In Taiwan

Formosan clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa brachyura), a rare species of large cat in Taiwan, thought to be extinct because it hadn’t been officially sighted since 1983. Taiwanese and U.S. zoologists also surveyed the region during the period from 2001 to 2013, but they failed to find even one leopard. So, this species was declared extinct in 2013.

However, these creatures have been reportedly sighted roaming around in the wilderness of Taitung County, Taiwan, by multiple witnesses alive and well in January 2019, inspiring a group of rangers to monitor the area. The rangers have now reported two sightings of a group of Formosan clouded leopards hunting goats, and one running up a tree.

The significance of the find is striking for locals in the area, and they are now holding tribal meetings to discuss the sightings and how to stop outsiders from attempting to hunt leopards.

Tribal members believe they could stop the hunting in the area by outsiders, while the elders of the village are lobbying Taiwanese authorities to end logging and other activities that harm the land.

National Taitung University’s Department of Life Science, Professor Liu Chiung-hsi says that he believed this animal still exists. Liu said that the Formosan is known to be quite agile and vigilant, eluding human attempts to trap or otherwise capture it, so it is no surprise that it has not been seen by a human being in more than two decades.

According to scientists and conservationists, the Earth is currently undergoing the sixth mass extinction of plants and animals and species going extinct at up to 1,000 to 10,000 times the natural rate. So, the spotting of the Formosan clouded leopard in Taiwan is the great news for our planet.

The Touching Bond Of A Lion, A Bear And A Tiger After Being Rescued From Abusive Owners

There is not strange to see a cat getting along well with a dog pack or a fox befriending a dog. But how it would be when it comes to a family of 3 different species? Lion, bear, and tiger? Most of us think that it can never happen but actually it does. They can find a way to stay in harmony and live happily. This is also the story we would like to share today. Keep scrolling!

After being rescued from old abusive owners, a trio of lion, bear, and tiger decided to form their own little weird pack. Amazingly, these furry giants live together in harmony, regardless of their differences. It strongly proves that friendship has no barrier. Love can care can win all.

Back in 2001, when the Georgia State Police broke into a drug dealer’s home, they stumbled upon a heartbreaking scene. 3 terrified cubs lain in the basement with malnourishment and parasite infection, possibly caused by animal abuse.

Their conditions at that time were terrible. Baloo, a black bear was trapped in a harness that had cut through his skin. Shere Khan, a Bengal tiger was almost dead and Leo, an African lion, had been locked into a small box although it had an open wound on his face.

The authorities immediately contacted the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to help 3 poor animals get proper medical treatment and find a new home. The trio got the help of a rescue center called Noah’s Ark. In the beginning, Baloo, Shere Khan, and Leo seemed to be still obsessed with what they had gone through. Thanks to the love and care of the staff of the rescue center, the cubs began to stay normally again. They groomed, cuddled, and played with each other.

The trio soon became inseparable, living as siblings. They were so close to each other. If the rescue center separated them, it would hurt all. They experienced a tough time living healthily and normally again. And the friends who accompany them through this period are precious.

Regarding the personalities of the gang members, Baloo the American black bear was a confident, caring, and trustful giant. Meanwhile, Shere Khan the Bengal tiger, the smallest of the trio was mischievous. And Leo the African lion was an extrovert. He enjoyed his rest and also got hooked on explorations.

The trio lived happily together for 15 years. The brothers were never caught fighting or getting violent with each other, not even once.

It’s heart-wrenching to see our beloved ones leaving us. The three brothers experienced the same. Leo was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and left his other siblings shortly thereafter. Shere Khan said goodbye to his happy home 2 years later, in 2018. Baloo is now the only member of this trio. He is currently living in the sanctuary, waiting until the day he reunites with his brothers.

If you are doubted about what true friendship is, just let this story help. The friendship and brotherhood of Baloo, Shere Khan, and Leo are enough to warm up the cold hearts.

First-Ever White Cougar Spotted In Brazil’s Atlantic Forest

A series of striking photos of an extremely rare white cougar have recently baffled the Internet. The four images were taken in 2013, but they recently resurfaced as scientists confirmed this was the first ever recorded case of a leucistic puma. The snaps were taken using trap camera in the Serra dos Órgãos National Park, a reservation located in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest.

Even if albinismm, leucism and even melanism is pretty frequent among wild cats, there have never been records of cougars suffering of these genetical conditions. The reason still remains a mystery for scientists.

“That shows you how extremely unusual it is,” executive director of the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Big Cats Program Luke Hunter told National Geographic. “My best guess is that the distant ancestor of pumas was uniformly colored, and that has been maintained in the species ever since. But that’s just a consequence of the randomness of mutation, the roll of the genetic dice.”

This first case of leucism at cougars would have helped researchers to understand why this genetic color aberration occurs so rarely, but unfortunately after the initial encounter back in 2013, the rare animal has never been seen again. “The camera trap monitoring project restarted last year, but we still have no new record of this animal or any other odd-colored pumas,” Cecília Cronemberger de Faria, environmental analyst for Serra dos Órgãos National Park, told National Geographic.

Even they’re a great sight due to their unique, unlikely coloring, wild animals that suffer of albinism, melanism or leucism face a lot of challenges. They are extremely vulnerable in front predators and sadly, they’re frequently rejected by their groups.
